Does the iPod Nano Make a Good Watch-_75

Does the iPod Nano Make a Good Watch?

There’s been a lot of talk recently of using the new iPod Nano as a watch (the iWatch, as it’s being called), so I thought I’d pick one up and give it a try.

The good:

Music, audio books, and radio right on your wrist. If you already use a smart phone, this probably doesn’t impress you much, but if you don’t, you might like the convergence. Easy time synchronization. Your computer probably calibrates its clock against a time server which, wwatches replica, in turn, probably calibrates against an atomic clock. Every time you sync your iPod with your computer, the iPod’s time us updated, replica watches, so it should stay pretty accurate as long as you sync it fairly regularly. It’s relatively small. At .74 ounces and roughly 1.5″ square, it’s actually pretty compact by today’s watch standards. Adequately functional. It has day/date on the face, breitling fakes, and it also has a stopwatch and a countdown timer. Configurable watch face. Choose between white or black.

The bad:

Not water-resistant. Even an impromptu water fight might be enough to ruin your iWatch. You have to remember to charge it. If you already sync your iPod frequently, this probably won’t be a problem, but if you don’t, charging your watch is just one more thing you will have to remember to do. Not good in direct sunlight. Since it has a backlit screen, it’s very hard to read in direct sunlight. On the other hand, it works great in the dark. Can’t just glance at the time. Checking the time means actually turning the iPod on. Since you have to reach over and hit a button anyway, it might be just as easy to pull out your phone. You’re only supposed to use it in temperatures between 32° and 95°F (-20° to 45°C). That means no wearing your iWatch while shoveling snow in the winter or doing yard work in the summer — at least where I live.

Although using an iPod nano as a watch is definitely somewhat gimmicky, it actually worked better than I expected. If you’re someone who is really into watches, I doubt an iPod Nano would replace what’s already on your wrist or sitting on your dresser. But if you’re more into gadgets and music than timepieces, strapping an iPod Nano to your wrist might be the way to go. Just consider going with the cheaper 8GB version ($149) so if you smash the crystal (screen, I guess I should say) or get it wet, you can pick up another without too much regret.

Review of the Casio Pathfinder PAW1500T-7V_128

Review of the Casio Pathfinder PAW1500T-7V

Face1_2

The face of a watch, like a person, often tells you quite a bit about what they are. Sometimes they're subtle and restrained, and sometimes their place in the world is writ large for all to see. The Casio Pathfinder, model number PAW1500T-7V is one of those "this is who I am, got a problem with that?" sorts of watches. After wearing it for a few weeks, I think of it as the go-to watch for the outdoors, especially if things are going to be tough: river rafting, long hiking trips, extreme sports and the like. It's probably the most capable and versatile watch I've yet seen. About the only thing it doesn't have is GPS.

Features of the Casio Pathfinder PAW1500T-7V include:

Tough Solar power (shock-resistant), 5 month power reserve. Radio set, rolex 8570f price, five bands: Japan (1 & 2), US, UK and Germany, tries up to six times per day. 200M (660ft) water resistant. Low-temperature resistant, down to -10C / 14F. Digital flux gate compass with bearing memory for navigation. Altimeter/barometer with up to 20 points in memory and trend graphs. Thermometer. Automatic electroluminescent backlight. World time, with 29 timezones and 33 cities around the globe. Five daily alarms. 60-minute countdown timer. Stopwatch, up to 24 hours. Graph of tide and trend, based on location and user-entered correction. Moon graph, northern or southern view. Rated to within 20 seconds per month accuracy if no radio signal is received. L/M/H battery charge indicator. Display flag on main screen if it received a radio sync in the last 24 hours. Titanium case and band, with safety lock and pushbutton release. Mineral glass crystal. Compass bezel for a quick bearing. Adjust and light buttons at 6 o'clock for fast access. Shrouded buttons that are crosshatched and oversized for use with gloves. 51mm wide, 14mm thick and 113g on the bracelet.

Casio calls this 'The ultimate Pathfinder' and I'm inclined to
agree; it does it all. Despite that, the use of titanium makes it very
comfortable to wear, even on very hot days. I wore it  in 90F heat it was just fine
to wear and use.Wrist2

I've included a comparison shot with a G-shock  so that you can judge the size. Sizecomparison1My wrist is around 7.25"
(18.4cm), and I was very comfortable wearing the Pathfinder. Obviously,
its an overtly technical and outdoor-style watch, so worrying about
whether it fits under the cuff of a dress shirt is kind of pointless!

Christian has covered this model before, so let me add some from my experiences. I really
like the combination of solar plus ABC (altimeter/barometer/compass).
The ABC features all draw a lot of power, so normally you have to worry
about running your battery flat in the middle of nowhere and losing you
navigation. Ditto with the backlight, and doubly so for using the
compass in the dark. By adding solar power, Casio frees you from
worrying about that, even
if you're hiking the Appalachian trail, visiting
Patagonia or canoeing the Amazon. It's a superb idea, and I think every
outdoor watch should have solar power like the Pathfinder.

Withmanual

Similarly, small thoughtful touches abound elsewhere too. Just
above the time, olex 8570f price, you can press 'Adjust' and flip between display of the
day or a small graph of the recent barometric pressure – great for
hiking, where a drop portends precipitation or a storm. The auto
backlight lights up when you turn your wrist in the dark, and since its
electroluminescent, the entire dial is evenly lit, letting you see
time/compass, etc. I also like that you can configure the main time
display to show time, day, date and month all at once.

The dial is initially a bit overwhelming, as there's a lot of
information on display. However, it's logically laid out and quite
comprehensible after a bit of time with the manual. Around the
face of the watch, there's a ring of segments that's used to show
seconds in time mode, and as the compass in navigation mode, and also
to show pressure trends in barometer mode. Below the time, there's a
special graph to show tide and trend (in or out, high/low), icons for
'radio signal received', battery charge, AM/PM, moon phase, and more.

The buttons for altimeter, barometer and compass are on the right
side, with plastic shrouds to prevent accidental presses. They're also
crosshatched for a sure grip, and a bit oversized for use with gloves -
very thoughtful. There's an unshrouded 'Mode' button on the left side
as well, and two more below the dial.

Dscf3093

The altimeter and barometer are fast and accurate, and display
graphs of measurement versus time. This is nice for logging hikes and
keeping an eye on the weather. I found it to be quite accurate once set
to local barometric pressure. If you're going to use this, I recommend
finding the altitude of your house so that you can calibrate before
leaving.

The bracelet and clasp of the watch are worth mentioning as well.
The clasp is a nice evolution of previous designs, as you can see in
the picture the interior pieces are beveled and cut so that the
portions pressed against your wrist are rounded and comfortable -
bravo! Very nice to wear. Clasp1

Another new idea is that the buttons are
under the fliplock, adding a bit more security against accidentally
opening the bracelet. These are small details, but they really add to
the comfort and are nice to have.

Clasp2

Overall, I'd like to congratulate Casio: This Pathfinder is obviously evolved from its predecessors,
with many improvements small and large. The attention to detail,
comfort and utility are remarkable and appreciated, wholesale discount handbags, making this the
outdoor watch of choice when the going gets rough.

The New Citizen BL5315-50E Eco-Drive Diver_313

The New Citizen BL5315-50E Eco-Drive Diver ,genuine leather purses

Citizen BL5315-50E

Citizen is generally less well known than Seiko for their dive watches, watches for you, however they do offer some very interesting pieces (e.g. a 1,000m mechanical nicknamed "Autozilla"; a 300m Eco-drive called "Eco-zilla"; and a new 200m Eco-Drive known as "Orca",used rolex watch, among others). Adding to their innovative diver collection, and challenging what it means for a dive watch to be considered a "diver", Citizen now has a new line of Eco-Drive divers with chronographs and alarms. At the head of the pack is the BL5315-50E.

The Citizen BL5315-50E

At 44mm of stainless steel, it's large but understated. Features include:

Stainless steel case and bracelet Perpetual calendar (nice!) Eco-Drive (4-month power reserve) 1-hour stopwatch 12/24 time and dual time zone support Alarm Water resistant to 200 meters, or about 660 feet Mineral crystal Unidirectional ion-plated ratcheting bezel 44mm case, not counting the crown (nice and chunky)

There are several similar versions available with slightly different colors and looks. The BL5314-52E is the most expensive at $475 while the BL5334-04E sits at the lower end at $375.

Citizen really seems to be stepping up their game lately. Lots more to come.

Yves Saint Laurent Small Satin Chain-Strap Bag

Before I say anything, rolex watch replica, I have to comment on how quickly this year has flown by. I cannot believe it is already November, japenese genuine leather purses! However, the last few months of the year brings some of my favorite events, holidays and activities. Another one of my favorite things is that with all of the Holiday parties and gatherings I feel as though I have an excuse to beef up my evening bag collection and this makes me happy. So, it should be no surprise that I’ve been spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out which bags I should buy; I can always figure out my outfit afterwords.

Yves Saint Laurent Small Satin Chain Strap Bag

One of the bags on my evening bag list is the Yves Saint Laurent Small Satin Chain-Strap Bag. As soon as I saw it a few months ago, I knew it would look great with so many outfits. This dark gray satin bag is elegant and exquisite. Then add the chunky gold-tone chain and you have a bit of an edgy feel going as well. The 8″ handle drop isn’t long enough to throw over your shoulder, olex 8570f price, and in fact it might look a little silly, but that doesn’t change the fact that this bag would be gorgeous carried in your hand. Certainly it is nothing too flashy, but it certainly is a lovely and timeless bag. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1295.

The New Seiko Prospex 6R15 Divers_41

The New Seiko Prospex 6R15 Divers

Seiko Prospex SBDC003

For many years now, Seiko has sold a line of mechanical dive watches based on the trusty 7S26 movement (the heart of the watch). They retail for under $200, they are well made and reliable, and they are generally considered to be excellent "beaters".

The problem is that the 7S26 movement is burdened with a couple of design compromises: you can't wind it by hand, and it is a non-hacking movement, which means that when you pull the stem out all the way, the movement doesn't stop as you might expect (making it very difficult to set the watch with much accuracy). Of course, Seiko sells several other watches with better movements, but they cost more.

As of April 2007, that's about to change. Seiko is introducing three new divers based on the 6R15 movement which is more accurate, buy rolex replica watch, can be wound by hand, wholesale italian leather handbags, and can be hacked. With stainless steel cases, they come in black (SBDC001), blue (SBDC003),replica rolex watch dealer, and orange (SBDC005), and will be priced at $428 (63,000 yen).

The 6R15 divers cost a bit more then their predecessors, but still represent excellent value for the money, and are generating a lot of interest on the net. I can safely predict that they'll displace the 7S26 divers from a lot of wrists.

Today, rolex swiss replica, Roger Ruegger pointed out to me that The Crossing is being presented by IWC on their website. The Crossing has been played in front of 1700 guests during a gala night organised by IWC at the SIHH watch fair earlier this year.

The text below is a short summary of the official press release by IWC:

Michael Kors Skorpios Pleated Crescent Hobo

As I mentioned last week, finally, oh finally, the retail stores are stocking their shelves with all sorts of amazing new handbags. My must-have bag of the day has to be the Michael Kors Skorpios Pleated Crescent Hobo. I’d like to even say that it could be my bag pick of the week, but seeing as though it is Monday, I don’t want to jump the gun yet.

All I do know is that this bag is a staple, a must-have, a classic.

For being a girl who loves simple, rolex explorer II replica, understated elegance it might seem a little odd that I only own one black handbag. To me, black handbags are like little black dresses, you might have one you use more than another, but you can never have enough.

I’ve been in the market for a new black bag for quite some time now and I’ve already put this bag on my list. It was the pleated body that initially caught my attention. But, it was the single braided shoulder strap and goldtone hardware that locked me in. The dimensions are pretty nice too: 16″W X 11″H X 3?”D and 11″ drop. Of course, there is plenty of room, but at the same time, buy watch online, the bag isn’t overwhelming. In fact, omega watch online, even if you are a petite woman, this bag won’t overwhelm you. Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Watch

JLC Reverso Tribute 3 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

Jaeger-LeCoultre's answer to the thin watch in 2011 was with their Reverso. Many of the Richemont brands were releasing their own slim watches, and I think the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin is one of the sleeker models. As of now it will come in at least four versions. Some unlimited models including one with a more typical Reverso face guilloche engraved silvered dial with Arabic numerals, and a tribute dial that hearkens back to some of the original Reverso models. The limited edition models have slightly different dial or come in 18k pink.

JLC Reverso Tribute 6 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

The model pictured at the very bottom of the article is the "Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 U.S. Edition" watch - and I will cover it first. This one uses all baton hour markers with tan lume on them to look aged. It also has different style hands than the other models. What is really special is the strap. It is made by a fellow living in Argentina named Eduardo Fagliano who makes boots for polo players. Polo is big in Argentina, and Jaeger-LeCoultre is big in Polo. As you've probably heard a few times by now, the original Reverso was made for British Polo players.

Fagliano is said to be one of the greatest book makers, and was specially commissioned by JLC to make the strap for the US limited edition model. There will be only 100 of these version and they will have a price of $7,250 in steel. OK, now on to more hands-on stuff.

JLC Reverso Tribute 5 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

JLC Reverso Tribute 8 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

JLC Reverso Tribute 1 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

The Grande Reverso Ultra-Think is 7.2mm thick and in a 27.5mm by 46mm case. Even being that thin the case still allows the watch to flip around in true Reverso style. It looks and feels great on the wrist. When I first saw images of the watch I was feeling pretty ho-hum about it. I liked the looks of it but felt it might be a bit lacking in the excitement department - especially because I get so enthusiastic about JLC sport watches. When I put the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin on my wrist, my perception changed and I felt a lot more positive about the watch. It just has a really nice elegant feel to it. I would term it "dignified." The style is sophisticated and demure - with various decorative elements but nothing too showy. It will win a lot of friends without having to try too hard.

My favorite piece is the 18k rose gold Tribute model. The limited edition models all have "Tribute to 1931" added to their name because they replicate original dials. This one has Arabic hour markers at 12 and 6, with baton hour markers elsewhere. Just a neat retro look. They did a good job with this collection in 1931, and now we can appreciate that again today.

JLC.1931.US .Edition.Shot .1 439x1024 Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Watch Hands On

Inside the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin watches is a manually wound Jaeger-LeCoultre in-house made calibre 822 movement. The movement is assembled and decorated by hand, which is nice, but I think it would be awesome to make another version with a power reserve indicator. Think about it. The Reverso flip case is fun to operate, buy a watch, but you don't often have a reason to do it. What if you put the power reserve indicator on the back of the case. This way you could not only have that added information to know when to wind the movement, buy fake watch here, but you'll also have an excuse to play with the case. Sounds win-win to me, and maybe we will see that? Not sure about pricing for the whole collection, but you can get a pretty good idea of the pricing knowing the limited edition steel model is $7,wholesale bag store,250. A bit less for the standard steel models, and a bit more for the gold models. Look for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ulta-Thin and Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to 1931 limited edition watches soon.

Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod Watch

Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod 1 Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod Watch

Is "Konstantin Chaykin" like the dark version of "Vacheron Constantin?" At very least the name sounds like the Russian version but then again "Konstantin Chaykin is a Russian name. While most of his work is in the clock category, Konstantin Chaykin now debuts a fascinating timepiece that he called the Lunokhod. The watch focuses on its novel moon phase indicator, and has a really interesting design that seems to fit with the brand's motto "religion of time" (sounds creepy, I know).

Konstantin Chaykin is a very accomplished watchmaker and is a member of the AHCI (where all the coolest indy watch makers want to be,rolex gmt replica!). He seems to specialize in complex calendar clocks, so I recommend you check out his website for some neat stuff. The Lunokhod watch is something else entirely. The name means "moon walker" and it is his homage to Michael Jackson. No, that's a joke. It refers to a Russian un-manned lunar lander that went to the moon in 1970. It also happens to look a bit like Jules Verne sci-fi robot and Star Wars torture droid all mixed into one. Didn't I see a Lego version of this?

Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod 2 Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod Watch

I am actually happy that the design of the Lunokhod watch does not mimic the moon walker (although there are a few design cues that are meant to honor it). The case looks more fantasy/antiquities themed than sci-fi or steampunk. I feel like I have seen designs like this in places like Stargate, Lord of the Rings, Hellboy, and other places with similar art direction. Chaykin did a good job of making the watch look a wizard's gadget. In other words, rolex 8570f, it looks like a modern instrument meant to look like the designer is from 300 BC.

The watch revolves around a large 12mm wide orb style moonphase indicator in the middle of the case. Most of the dial is metal, while there are three separate sapphire crystal opens to see the complications and a bit of the movement. The textured silver orb is meant to mimic the surface of the moon. The moon phase change is accomplished via a black rhodium plated silver hood that revolves around the moon orb. Below the moon phase indicator is a subsidiary seconds dial, and the time is told in 24 hour format via one of two small hands that pass over a 24 hour scale. One hand is a moon and one hand is a sun - letting you know whether you are in the AM or PM half of the say. Wait you say, isn't that unnecessary with a 24 hour scale watch? Yes, but given the layout of the dial, it is necessary to know whether you are reading the top or bottom part of the time scale.

Lunokhod2 Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod Watch

Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod 3 Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod Watch

Somewhere between a tonneau case and a round case, the Lunokhod's case is done in a special type of steel that looks unfinished. It is actually called "Wootz" steel, and is actually a form of layered Damascus steel. Guess when it was first developed? 300BC. I think the case is well-done. With the lugs structures going all through the case and Chaykin's use of different textures. The strap is ostrich and not only is designed to match the curves of the case but has a complimentary texture. This isn't a small watch, and at 50mm wide, man watch, it will make for a distinct and loud statement on your wrist. A statement that might suggest "I have a large eye on my wrist that is staring at me."

According to Konstantin Chaykin, the manually wound mechanical movement is entirely in-house made and designed. There is more Wootz metal on the movement. For fun, the back of the half-moon or says "The dark side of the moon." I do like that the watch isn't too thick, and the protruding moon phase bulges out on the top, but not the bottom. Overall the Konstantin Chaykin Lunokhod is a very interesting watch from an equally interesting independent Russian watch maker and brand.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15202ST

Dec,fake watch
28

Just before year-end, on the 24th of December to be exact, I traded my Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref.15300 for a 15202ST (or 15202ST.OO.0944ST.02 in full). Although I was very happy with my white dialed Royal Oak 15300,wholesale designer handbags, the 15202 ‘Jumbo’ remains to be the original Royal Oak in my opinion. The original G?ɬrald Genta creation of 1972 still lives in the current Royal Oak collection, bearing reference number 15202ST. The original Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ is pictured below, with reference number 5402.

As you can see, the hour markers are a bit different than the current ‘Jumbo’ and the AP logo changed position. If you look even more closely, you will notice that the dial pattern is a bit different too. The squares are a bit smaller than on the current models of the Royal Oak series.

What didn’t change,u.s. handbag factories, is the size of the watch, the lack of a second hand, the movement caliber (2121) and the thin case. The thin case is only possible because AP still uses the caliber 2121 movement, which has a height of only 3.05mm thick, including the 21ct gold rotor. The screws in the octagonal bezel are still made out of white gold, as are the minute and hour hands. Below a picture of the movement, dis-assembled (without rotor) not even 3mm in height. Picture credits to Matthias S of the German R-L-X forum.

I think a lot has been written about this movement already, also used by Vacheron Constantin (caliber 1120 in their ’222′) and the Patek Philippe Nautilus (caliber 28-255), all based on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s caliber 920. Story is that VC, PP and AP had some influence/input when JLC created this movement. Later on, only AP made this particular movement in license of JLC.

The main difference between the 15300 and 15202 are the thickness of the watch and bracelet and, ofcourse, the second hand. From an owners perspective, I have to say that I really had to get used to the 15202 ‘Jumbo’ the first few days, as the bracelet is really thin in comparison to the one of the 15300. It feels a bit like wearing a vintage watch, where the 1972 design kicks in again probably. However, it wears very comfortable on my wrist and the look of the watch’s face (there is almost no space between the dial and the sapphire crystal) is simply amazing.

Although I was a bit weary at first, that I would miss the new and updated bracelet, and the white face with long(er) hour markers, the Jumbo is here to stay and I consider it the master piece of my very modest collection of time pieces. The name ‘Jumbo’ is a bit out dated as well, since 39mm isn’t that Jumbo and the 15300 is even a bit larger in size. However, it could be considered authentic to keep calling this particular model ‘Jumbo’.

Enough talk, here are some of the photographs that I took today!

And here is a lousy shot of the transparent case back, showing the wonderful caliber 2121 movement. You can clearly see the superb finished rotor, with the 21ct gold mass attached to it.

I will write a more in-depth review in some time from now, I first have to enjoy wearing it! Although I don’t feel the urge purchasing another time piece in the (near) future, I can imagine it will take a lot of time to buy something next to this one. :)

Lastly, I recently found this vintage (probably 1970s) advertizement of the Royal Oak that I love to share with you.
